Drusillas Park
Where else can you get nose to nose with nature and have the most memorable fun-finding-out day out you can imagine? Drusillas has hundreds of fascinating and entertaining creatures such as Meerkats, Otters, Monkeys, Penguins, Bats and Lemurs. One thing you can be certain of, there will be plenty of animal magic to enthral and excite everyone from the youngest to the oldest visitor! Animals are only half the Drusillas experience. Playland is great fun for children, with over an acre of creative, climbing, jumping and swinging equipment, thoughtfully separated for different age groups. Amazon Adventure is a jungle themed soft play centre where imaginations run wild and the Toddlers Village and Toy Stables are a great hit with the under 6s.In addition to this, there are beautiful gardens, a train ride, a Zoolympics trail, Vertical Limit, Explorers Lagoon, Jungle Adventure Golf, Explorers Restaurant, Oasis Café and five shops. Eastbourne PierTake a stroll along the Victorian boardwalk and take a step back in time. Take in the sights and sounds and you'll be amazed at what you find. The fun starts at 'Funtasia!' With all the latest video games and slot machines. The kids can while away the afternoon in a fantasy world of dungeons and dragons while adults can try their luck on some of the most up-to-date gambling machines in our adults only area. There is loads to do on the Pier, why not visit the shops, with Cats Whiskers clothes shop, Pier tattoos, Pick n Mix Sweets, Glass Studio, Games stall and lots more. The Camera Obscura on the Pier was built in 1901 and has been a popular feature for many years. During the Second World the camera was almost destroyed so that it didn't fall into enemy hands. You can now witness this fantastic original 360 degrees Victorian projector in all its former glory - it has recently been restored and is waiting to give you a magical view of the seafront. Two events which take place on the Pier are the Birdman Competition and the Raft Race. The Birdman Competition sees mad Englishmen jump off the end of the pier for prizes, while teams in the Raft Race battle it out to make a raft which will float around the Pier. Firle Place Firle Place is the home of the Gage family and has been for over 500 years. Set at the foot of the Sussex Downs within its own parkland, this unique House, originally Tudor, was built of Caen stone, thought to be from a monastery dissolved by Sir John Gage, friend of Henry VIII. Remodelled in the 18th century, it is now similar in appearance to that of a French Chateau. The house contains a magnificent collection of Old Master paintings, fine English and European furniture and an impressive collection of beautiful Sevres Porcelain. |
